OUR STORY
THE PERFECT BLEND OF BEER, PLANTS & FAMILY
What could be better than growing specialty plants and crafting delicious beer on our family farm in the picturesque Sierra foothills?
For us, it's even better when two generations of family - the Borings and the Roses - each bring their creative and practical experiences together to make our dream a reality. We've each done our part - digging trenches, installing electrical and water, potting up plants, formulating and taste testing new beer recipes, designing logos, and getting our taproom up and running.
We're excited to share our passion for crafting beer and growing plants with you!
MEET OUR FAMILY
BILLY ROSE
Owner
From growing vegetables as a young boy alongside his mom to earning a degree in Horticulture from Cal Poly SLO, Billy’s growth into a full fledged plant nerd has taken years to cultivate. For the past 8 years, he’s been part of the management team at Habitat Horticulture, a Bay Area living wall company, where he truly came to realize the positive impact plants can have on people in their work and home environments. Missing the wide open spaces of the Sierra foothills of his childhood, Billy and his wife Jamie moved back to the family farm to start their own nursery and brewery business. They’ve spent the past few years building their home, greenhouse, and expanding the brewery (which includes opening a taproom in El Dorado Hills Town Center).
Billy’s Favorite Plant: Monstera
Billy’s Favorite Brew: Latrobe Lager
JAMIE (BORING) ROSE
Owner
From helping her mom raise and show prize-winning 4H goats to earning a Biology degree and teaching credential in Science from Cal Poly SLO, Jamie has always been interested in the living world around her. After marrying Billy and moving to the Bay Area, Jamie taught middle school Science for 4 years and was the Greenhouse Manager for Habitat Horticulture. Jamie is a member of the local Pink Boots Society of women brewers and has won several medals for her brews. She splits her time between growing her own yeast and hops, creating delicious beer recipes, and growing happy, healthy plants in the greenhouse.

Jamie’s Favorite Brew: Clarksville Kolsch
BILL ROSE
Owner
Bill grew up on a ranch in Northern California where he and his sister earned their college tuition by harvesting barley, wheat and oats for other farmers in the area. After graduating from Santa Clara University with a Computer Science degree, he held executive tech management positions for several startups in Silicon Valley. He and his wife, Paula, moved to the Sierra Foothills 20 years ago, and have worked together in their own tech company, developing mobile apps for clients. Bill is happiest on his tractor, tending to his growing herd of cows, and sharing his practical knowledge of running a business with his son Billy and daugher-in-law Jamie.
Bill’s Favorite Plant: String of Dolphins
Bill’s Favorite Brew: Ponderosa Pilsner
PAULA ROSE
Owner
Paula grew up in the Bay Area where she developed a strong appreciation for the beauty of nature from her parents. Every weekend, her family would pile in the car, drive down the coast, and explore the beaches, farmstands, and redwood forests along the way. Paula has a degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University, where she also met and married Bill. She's excited to add her love of nature, creativity and experience as a community liaison, art teacher, and digital designer to the family business. Paula is happiest spending time with family and is proud that her three grown children - Billy, Joey, and Katie - have inherited her love for nature, art, and creative expression.
